On today's update...

One tribal official is offering details into the Tribal Public Safety Crisis Summit held last week by Gov. Kristi Noem. Gov. Noem convened the summit after the tribes banned her for comments she made about cartels on reservations and about Native children not having any hope.

The legislative executive board met recently and one piece of the docket was the budget and expenditures of state government. E-board members discussed an $8.5 million appropriation to keep the legislature running.

A licensing policy is now in place for homes deemed "vacation rentals" in Pennington County. As homes are taken off the market by such rentals, officials say regulations like these could open more homes to full-time residents.

The state Department of Health has introduced the new guidelines for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) nutrition program. The program is provided at no cost to eligible families to aid with grocery bills for nutritious foods.
