As November draws nearer, South Dakotans get closer to voting on whether to enshrine abortion care in the state constitution. Abortion rights supporters are forming a new group aimed at clarifying legal questions.

After some confusion, it appears BNSF has landed on a time and date for the controlled blast of the downed rail bridge in North Sioux City. Union County Emergency Manager Jason Wescott says the date is set — 9:00 a.m. Monday, August 19th.

South Dakota State Veterinarian Beth Thompson says prior vaccinations and fast action limited the effects of the state's first confirmed anthrax outbreak of 2024. The disease was found in a beef cattle herd in Meade County.

America is turning 250 years old July 4, 2026. All states have been encouraged to develop plans to celebrate the federal milestone. South Dakota's commissioners meet to continue planning our celebration.
