Following legislative action taken on Monday, the future of a new 1,500-bed men’s prison near Sioux Falls is in doubt. Some state lawmakers want to revisit options to alleviate overcrowding in the prison system.

A bill permitting the state to invest in bitcoin was rejected by a House committee. Those opposed to the effort say bitcoin is both a volatile and speculative asset.
