The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission is denying Summit Carbon Solutions' application to build a carbon pipeline through the state.

Governor Larry Rhoden has ordered flags across the state to be at half-staff in honor of Pope Francis. Flags will remain at half-staff until the Pope’s internment.

A new policy in Rapid City has some community members fearing erasure. Under the proposal, banner usage on downtown streetlamps would be restricted to purely governmental use, which has local pride groups in arms.
