Membership of a legislative task force to take a comprehensive look at property taxes in the state is now set. The executive board approved the 18-members of the task force Wednesday. It’s the third task force looking at property taxes in four years. It’s the first since new Republican leadership took over the state Legislature.
With Real ID laws in place, updating your license could lead to a smoother takeoff. Real ID is designed to enhance security of identification cards like a license, and in South Dakota it’s marked by a small star in the upper right-hand corner of the card. A federal requirement to require it to board domestic flights went into effect Wednesday.
Gov. Larry Rhoden said past decisions to reject federal funding is helping the state now. For that reason, the state is benefitting in many areas despite recent widespread federal cuts from the Trump Administration.
The head of the South Dakota Investment Council says state assets are “very cautiously positioned” in the market right now. That update came during the latest executive board meeting of the state Legislature.
The South Dakota Hall of Fame announced the 2025 class.
