Eight undocumented migrant workers who were arrested in an immigration raid in Madison have made their initial court appearances on Thursday. Each worker is charged with using a fraudulent identification document. Under federal law, that could mean as much as 15 years in prison.
A South Dakota Mines grad student will remain in America for now. With her current visa, she is supposed to be eligible through 2027. Newly published court documents rule that Priya Saxena, a 28-year-old newly graduated doctoral student from India, can stay in America.
Production in the state’s only active gold mine is at its highest point since 2016. Coeur Wharf officials say the mine produced 98,042 ounces of gold in 2024. That’s a nearly 5,000-ounce jump in production from 2023.
