An alleged threat for a Republican gubernatorial candidate was all smoke and no fire according to local authorities. Police are now saying false social media posts like the one that started the incident make it harder for them to do their jobs.
South Dakota US Senator Mike Rounds said the Republican effort to make federal tax cuts from 2017 permanent would help the average South Dakota family. Rounds said the effort will save the average South Dakota family $2,400 annually.
The company backing a data center that’s received local pushback in McPherson County is offering a proposal to improve emergency services in the area. The 50-megawatt data center is proposed in Leola. As a result, the McPherson County Commission is in the process of establishing a zoning ordinance for such a project.
School is out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean reading has to stop. Students in a children’s literature program at Black Hills State University recently installed six community libraries across Spearfish to help kids turn the page.
Turner County is breaking ground on a new courthouse. The new building replaces the historic courthouse that had been in operation since 1902.
