The cost of land for a proposed prison site in Mitchell is now nearly double its original price tag. Landowner James River Farms increased its asking price from $18,000 to $35,000 per acre.

Syphilis rates in South Dakota have dropped sharply following a public health effort from the state Department of Health. State leaders say what was once a health crisis has been stifled, though work always remains when battling STIs.

Dakota State University received a $1 million grant from Google to host a cybersecurity clinic. Officials say the clinic is improving cybersecurity in the state and abroad.

Starting June 25, Monument Health is enacting limited visitation at its Rapid City Hospital Women’s and Children’s Center. In a Facebook post, officials said the restrictions are to protect families—especially newborns who are not old enough to be vaccinated—from the measles virus.
