US Sen. John Thune was the keynote speaker at the USS South Dakota Day of Honor. Some protestors rallied nearby to oppose some of Thune’s latest policies, namely the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
The City of Sioux Falls is looking into implementing an ordinance that addresses dwellings in public places and areas not intended for habitation. While supporters say the ordinance is a public safety measure, opponents call it inhumane, claiming it targets the unhoused community.
As the state grapples with a high recidivism rate and how to address rehabilitating substance abuse offenders, many possible solutions are being looked at.
