On today's update...

As part of Operation: Prairie Thunder, the state Board of Pardons and Paroles is transferring 10 undocumented immigrants serving prison time to ICE custody. Gov. Larry Rhoden said state taxpayers shouldn’t “have to foot the bill for illegal alien criminals.”

A card skimming scheme stole thousands from needy families in South Dakota utilizing SNAP benefits. Further complicating matters, decisions in D.C. have removed a primary recourse for victims, leaving many unsure how to feed their families.

Two major TIF districts previously approved by the Rapid City Council are voided on account of administrative error. The Rapid City Journal first reported that the sports complex and Libertyland theme park districts will have to undergo the public comment and voting process again.

The state Humanities Council has delivered over 13,000 free books to third-grade students across South Dakota. It’s part of the annual Young Readers program, and organizers say it aims to help get students at every public, private, tribal, or home school reading.

And more.
