Three commercial turkey farms in South Dakota have confirmed cases of bird flu in the past couple of weeks. According to the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, the total number affected is over 130,000. However, one state official said it doesn’t appear the disease is spreading from flock to flock.

South Dakota lawmakers are taking up a growing nationwide effort to streamline services for vulnerable populations. One of the committees for this legislative offseason has focused on community support providers and their needs moving forward.

The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs is hosting a bridge dedication ceremony as part of a program honoring local veterans killed in the line of duty. The latest bridge to be dedicated will be in honor of U.S. Army Private Frank J. Holcombe.
