After a year garnering mixed results for South Dakota tourism, local leaders are looking to a stronger 2026. While the outlook is strong, 2025 shows there is still work to do.

South Dakota’s infant mortality rate has remained stagnant for the last decade: more than seven deaths per thousand live births. That’s higher than the national rate. The state Department of Health investigates that data in hopes of preventing future tragedies.

SDPB’s Nate Wek and Jason Andera are back with this week’s Your Morning in Play. They recap the recent State Cheer and Dance competitions in Watertown and the State Cross Country Championships in Huron.
