South Dakota Republican US Senator Mike Rounds says he’s disappointed President Donald Trump fired the nation’s top election security official.
Trump removed the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Christopher Krebs, on Tuesday night. Krebs’ office called the election the most secure election in American history.
That doesn’t match the president’s claims of election fraud.
Rounds is chairman of the Senate Armed Services Cyber Subcommittee.
He says he’s worked closely with the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security to protect the election process from foreign interference.
Senator John Thune’s office did not respond to requests for comment on Krebs’ firing, but says “the presidential race has yet to be certified.”
