Analysis: Lopsided campaign funds hobble political challengers

The interview posted above is from SDPB's daily public affairs show, In the Moment with Lori Walsh.

Our panel today includes Seth Tupper, editor-in-chief for South Dakota Searchlight along with Jon Hunter, publisher emeritus for the Madison Daily Leader.

The discussion begins with talking about the cash on hand the federal office candidates have. Incumbent John Thune has substantially more than his challenger Brian Bengs. It was asked how a candidate must use the money they do have to run a successful campaign.

The panel gets into the effectiveness on debates from both the federal side and then the gubernatorial race between Governor Kristi Noem and challenger Jamie Smith.
