In their own words: Debate on self-driving vehicles

SD Legislature
Representative Roger Chase was the prime sponsor of HB 1120.

This segment originally aired on "In the Moment" on SDPB Radio.

You won't see a self-driving car cruising down South Dakota interstates any time soon. These cars of the future are still battling the legislation of today.

House Bill 1120 would have set up parameters for using autonomous, or self-driving, vehicles in the state. The bill was deferred to the 41st legislative day, which effectively kills it for this session.

Listen to the debate surrounding the bill before it was deferred.
