In their own words: The tax cut debate in South Dakota

Representative Chris Karr is the prime sponsor of House Bill 1137. That bill would reduce the general sales tax rate.

This segment originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

Three approaches to cut taxes in South Dakota were debated in the House. One bill would eliminate the sales tax on food. Another would reduce property taxes. The third would reduce the general sales tax rate.

Each of the three would offer about a $100 million cut in taxes. Listen to the debate on the third bill, House Bill 1137.
