The state of South Dakota is rolling out new non-commercial license plates this year. The new design has subtle changes, but still features Mount Rushmore.
Lawmakers considered a bill that would have led to an even bigger change. Senate Bill 133 would have modified license plates for the next redesign to include the state motto of "Under God, the people rule."
