The outgoing chairman of the South Dakota Democratic Party is in the hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Randy Seiler is in a medically induced coma after he went into cardiac arrest Friday during a jog, according to a party spokesperson.

Seiler’s wife, Wanda, said in a Facebook post a woman saw him collapse and performed CPR until first responders arrived. He’s currently listed in critical, but stable condition.

Seiler has been chairman of the state Democratic party since 2019. He didn’t seek reelection this year. His term ends at the end of the month.

He previously served as U.S. Attorney for the district of South Dakota.
