Representative Dusty Johnson joined his fellow Republicans in voting to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The articles of impeachment charge Mayorkas with ignoring immigration law and lying to Congress about the status of border security.
Johnson called the situation at the southern border a “disaster” and said Mayorkas has failed to uphold his oath of office.
President Joe Biden called the vote petty political games.
Mayorkas next faces a trial in the Senate, where it’ll take a two-thirds majority to remove him. Democrats hold a narrow majority in that chamber.
