The South Dakota Legislature's Joint Appropriations Committee meets during the 2024 legislative session.

State legislators on the Joint Appropriations Committee session killed a bill that would have provided funding to the restoration of the Lake Hiddenwood State Recreation Area.

Senate Bill 153 would have granted $3.75 million dollars to fix the rest area in Walworth County.

A 2018 flood damaged Lake Hiddenwood State Recreation Area leaving it closed to the public. The area reopened in 2022 but the dam has not been fixed and the lake remains empty.

The Joint Appropriations Committee killed Senate Bill 153 with a 11 to 7 vote.
