On May 2, The Dakota Scout published their reporting on factual discrepancies in Gov. Kristi Noem's book "No Going Back."
The local independent news journal found two alleged meetings with world leaders that The Scout couldn't verify happened. That includes a meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and another that Noem said she'd canceled with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The story made national headlines. But it started with local reporting done right here in South Dakota.
Jonathan Ellis is co-founder of The Dakota Scout and co-author of the article. He shares the story behind his reporting and provides his analysis on a new poll from South Dakota News Watch.
