South Dakota Republicans are endorsing Kristie Fiegen for another term on the Public Utilities Commission.

Position responsibilities include regulating utility companies and playing a role in evaluating permit applications for energy projects. The commission also plays an important role in regulating potential carbon pipelines, like the one proposed by Summit Carbon Solutions.

Fiegen has served on the board since 2011. She’s currently the commission’s chairperson.

If reelected in November, she would serve another 6-year term.
