A group of individuals brandishing the Nazi flag attempted to march at the State Capitol.

On Saturday, the South Dakota highway patrol responded to the unscheduled march, according to a press release from the Department of Public Safety.

The group of protesters did not have a permit to protest, and left without incident.

A similar march occurred in Deadwood later the same evening.

This event comes just days after the 80th anniversary of D-Day during World War II.

Multiple State officials reacted to the unscheduled protest.

Gov. Noem said in a statement “We reject all hatred and Nazis. Full Stop”.

U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson called the demonstration “atrocious”. Sen. Mike Rounds agreed saying “This racist behavior has no place in South Dakota or anywhere.”
