South Dakota leaders are voicing support for Israel in the wake of an Iranian missile strike.

NPR reports Iran’s attack is in response to Israel’s escalating campaign against the militant group Hezbollah, which Iran has supported for decades.

Rep. Dusty Johnson posted on social media that “our greatest ally in the Middle East is under attack.”

Sens. John Thune and Mike Rounds also posted that the U.S. must continue to stand with Israel.

"While Iranian-backed terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah have been targeting Israel in the past year, today’s missile strikes mark Iran’s official entrance into the war in Israel and Gaza," Rounds added.

Gov. Kristi Noem posted Israel has the right to defend itself while also lashing out at the Biden Administration.

"Biden and Harris’ weak and failed foreign policy and their tactics of appeasing terrorists have caused our world to be on fire!" Noem said. "We need strong, proven leadership in the White House – we need Donald Trump."
