The Legislature is passing a bill supporters say closes a campaign finance loophole.

The bill limits the amounts candidates can legally accept through a loan.

Sponsors of the bill say currently, candidates can get around contribution limits by transferring money to a campaign via loan. Those loans can then be forgiven.

The bill ties loan limits to existing regular contribution limits.

It now just needs the governor’s signature to become law.
