RF Buche says politicians are "playing with people's lives" when it comes to the ongoing government shutdown.

Buche is president and CEO of GF Buche Company. He also founded a nonprofit organization called Team Buche Cares.

He says tens of thousands of South Dakotans will suffer if the shutdown goes on and people lose access to federally funded nutrition assistance. Around 8% of South Dakotans use SNAP benefits to help meet their dietary needs.

He speaks with Lori Walsh about what he calls the moral obligation to feed our neighbors who suffer from hunger and food scarcity.

Lori Walsh is a special correspondent with SDPB and host of the "In the Moment" podcast.
