On today's show

Drought conditions persist across much of the state. Today we look at the importance of soil health and the farmer scientists who tend to it. Anthony Bly was awarded the 2022 Friend of Soil Health award by the South Dakota Soil Health Coalition.

A law passed more than three decades ago still controls the number of nursing-home beds in South Dakota. And this year a Native American tribe is asking the Legislature for an exception. SDPB’s Seth Tupper is here to explain the history and logic behind the policy.

This week and next week are all that remain of this year's legislative session. Lawmakers reconvene at the end of the month for veto day. Today we welcome SDPB's Lee Strubinger for a look at the political business at hand. Jackelyn Severin reports on education for SDPB. She is also with us for an update.

Here is Emily Dickinson’s “My Letter to the World,” with music by Gweyneth Walker.
