This show dives into the pages of a new book. "City of Hustle" is an anthology of Sioux Falls stories. Nearly 50 contributors write about the history and future of Sioux Falls.

The editors of the collection Patrick Hicks and Jon Lauck begin the hour.

Up next is writer Marcella Prokop. Her chapter is about the city's Latinx (or Hispanic community). She also writes affectionately about her own search for identity as a Colombian American in a city where just because you speak a little Spanish doesn't mean you're from the same place as the person next to you in line at the bakery.

Long-time journalist Patrick Lalley wrote a chapter for the new Sioux Falls anthology on the synergy between a music venue, local musicians, and journalists who wanted to write about it all.

Daniel Max Gerling is a self-described "mild-mannered" English professor at Augustana University. Gerling's chapter in "City of Hustle" explores the presidential campaign of 1972, a painful defeat for South Dakota's own George McGovern, and the Gonzo journalist who lost his faith in American politics in the city of Sioux Falls.

You can tell a lot about a city based on what's for dinner. You can also tell a lot about a city based on how we treat people in need of dinner. Chris Madsen wrote a chapter on the culinary culture of a growing city. Eric Schulte wrote about the history of The Banquet -- an organization founded on the simple idea that hungry people should be fed.
