On today's In the Moment...

One of the many applications of artificial intelligence is to use it to make predictions about random events. SDSU's Kaiqun Fu, Ph.D., is doing just that. He's training AI models to predict how long traffic will be delayed after an accident.

Sylvia Poggioli is signing off for the final time. She's brought faithful NPR listeners European news as the longest serving reporter on the International Desk.

She joins In the Moment to reminisce on the stories she brought to listeners for 41 years.

Our Dakota Political Junkie brings a discussion about water rights and a lawmaker scorecard. What can South Dakota do to ensure access to our water? And how efficient have the state's legislators been in Washington this year?

Seth Tupper, editor-in-chief of South Dakota Searchlight, joins to discuss those topics and more.

Plus, we revisit two conversations from earlier in the year. In case you missed it, listen to our interviews with Dallas Chief Eagle about his award in the arts and Darcie Rives-East, Ph.D., on the world's most famous sleuth.

Lori Walsh is a special correspondent with SDPB and host of the "In the Moment" podcast.
Ellen Koester served as a producer of "In the Moment," SDPB's daily news and culture broadcast.
