What farmers may reap in the political future

On today's show...

Farmer leaders respond to President-elect Donald Trump's promised day-one tariffs. They also lay out their priorities for a new U.S. Farm Bill now that U.S. Senator John Thune is majority leader.

Scott VanderWal is president of the South Dakota Farm Bureau (1:00 to 7:58), and Doug Sombke is president of the South Dakota Farmers Union (7:58 to 15:28).

Then, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says it's time to depoliticize the U.S. Department of Justice. He thinks the next AG pick would be a good start (15:28 to 22:42).

The Dakota Scout's Jonathan Ellis and South Dakota Searchlight's Seth Tupper analyze the timing of the governor's proposed accountability measures (22:42 to 33:03).

Plus, U.S. Senator Mike Rounds introduced a bill that would eliminate the Department of Education. He explains why (33:03 to 41:10).

And Dan Ahlers, executive director of the South Dakota Democratic Party, makes his case against the measure (41:10 to 48:51).
