Dusty Johnson announces bid for governor's seat

On today's show...

U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson has announced his bid for the governor's seat.

He stops by the SDPB studio with an overview of his political career and discusses how he'd bring his budget-conscious mentality to the governor's mansion (1:10 to 22:42).

Plus, it's the 45th anniversary of the landmark decision in United States vs. Sioux Nation of Indians. In 1980, the Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. had broken the Fort Laramie Treaty and unlawfully took the Black Hills.

We invite a panel to dive into the case, the ruling and its impacts (22:42 to 48:10).

Frank Pommersheim is a former professor at the University of South Dakota Knutson School of Law. He has more than forty years of experience in Indian law and policy.

Dani McQuillen is an American Indian Law attorney in Aberdeen, and Tracey Zephier is the general counsel for NDN Collective.
