Revisiting the American Revolution before the country's 250th birthday

On today's show...

America's 250th anniversary is coming right up. We get a look into the significance of the American Revolutionary War with Ben Jones, Ph.D.

He is our state historian and director of the South Dakota State Historical Society (1:00-12:44).

There's a new PBS docuseries by Ken Burns coming to your screen. The six-part "The American Revolution" premieres on Nov. 16.

Co-directors David Schmidt and Sarah Botstein take us behind the scenes to share how they approached telling America's origin story (12:44-35:00).

Teacher Talk's Gina Benz and Jackie Wilber pen an ode to teachers everywhere. They take a moment to celebrate the inspiring, smart and dedicated educators at the front of our classroom (35:00-49:30).
