The Hamlin Chargers (11-0) will go up against the Faulkton Area Trojans (10-1) on Friday morning in a battle for the class 9B state football championship.
Hamlin Head Coach Jeff Sheehan is preparing his team for one final game on what has been a perfect season for the Chargers. He said there is a lot to admire about this years Hamlin football team.
“Their focus, discipline and their work ethic,” said Sheehan. “We told them it’s business as usual. We know what the atmosphere is like; the shock factor shouldn’t be there. We have to prepare the same way we have been.”
Sheehan also said his team needs to respect what Faulkton can do.
“They’re a balanced offense, they can pass and run,” Sheehan said. “We just need to try and stay with them, if not one step ahead of them.”
Faulkton Area Head Coach Shayne Geditz said he is also trying to keep the process as normal as possible for his team.
“We’re doing our best to ensure our guys are mentally and physically prepared for this game,” said Geditz.
Coach Geditz also said he’s happy with the way his team has played to this point.
“Offensively we’ve been balanced, and we have some weapons,” said Geditz. “Defensively we’re strong and we tackle pretty well, for the most part.”
This game is scheduled for 10:30 am CT on Friday November 14 at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion. The game can be viewed on SDPB TV or online at sdpb.org/football.
