National Senior Games Hosts 101-Year Old South Dakotan

A 101-year old South Dakotan, John Zilverberg, is the oldest competitor at this years National Senior Games competition. Zilverberg, who according to the Associated Press turns 102 next month, is a retired rancher from Highmore, South Dakota.

KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls had a chance to sit down with Zilverberg and talk about his continuous drive to stay active. To view that story, click here.

Zilverberg has been competing in the senior games since 1985. During this year’s event, he will compete in the softball throw, shot put, discus and javelin throw.

The National Senior Games competition in the Twins Cities began over the holiday weekend, and it will continue through Thursday July 16. For more information on the event and for a complete schedule, click here.
