The 2016 State Wrestling Championships Preview

The 2016 State Wrestling Championships are this week, Friday Feb. 26 and Saturday Feb. 27, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City.

This event will consist of 420 total wrestling matches in the time frame of two days. With both Class A and Class B at the same venue, there will be action-taking place on eight mats (A - four and B - four).

The opening matches will occur on Friday, along with the quarterfinals and wrestlebacks (1st and 2nd round).

Saturday will begin with the semifinals and the remainder of the wrestlebacks (3rd and 4th round).

At 4 pm MT on Saturday, the place matches of third, fifth, and seventh will be decided. The championships will start at the conclusion of these.

South Dakota Public Broadcasting is providing full coverage of the state wrestling championships with a live web stream to all of the action. Along with being streamed live online, all 28 championship matches will be televised live on SDPB TV-1 – starting at approximately 6 pm MT on Saturday.
