Bridgewater-Emery is the only team capable of a completing a perfect season in boys high school basketball this spring. The Huskies are 23-0 and will play an opponent they haven’t seen yet this year in the championship game, Wolsey-Wessington.

This year, Bridgewater-Emery came into the tournament as the undisputed No. 1 seed, which immediately puts a target on their back, and increases expectations.

In the quarterfinal round on Thursday night Bridgewater-Emery defeated Platte-Geddes 67-39. Sophomore guard Sawyer Schultz led all scoring in the game with 15 points for the Huskies. Senior guard Sam Arend also contributed 14 points to the teams total, while also hauling in a team leading seven rebounds.

On Friday night, Bridgewater-Emery faced off in a barnburner against Sully Buttes, where they escaped with a 61-58 victory. Even though the Chargers shot 53% from the field, the Huskies were able to force 14 turnovers, which is ultimately what led to the difference in the game.

Sophomore guard Jamin Arend scored 20 points in the semi-final game for Bridgewater-Emery, including four three-pointers. Schultz was second on the team with 16 points, and a perfect five of five from the free throw line.

The Class B Championship game is set for 8 pm CT on Saturday night against the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds.
