Matthew Mors of Yankton scored his 1,000th career point on Saturday night in a road battle against the Watertown Arrows.

While numerous players in South Dakota have had high school careers of 1,000 points or more, this one stands out because Mors is only a freshman. At 6-foot-7, Mors first saw action with the varsity squad in Yankton as a seventh grader.

As impressive as this milestone is for someone so young, one can't help but remember when they've seen it before in South Dakota.

Louie Krogman, who is South Dakota’s all-time leading scorer, recorded his 1,000th point in his freshman year as well.

For those wondering: Louie Krogman -- SD's all-time leading scorer (3,521) -- also scored his 1,000th career point when he was a freshman. https://t.co/PoGN880oTi

After graduating from White River High School in 2008, Krogman went on to play basketball at the collegiate level for the University of South Dakota.

Players like Krogman and Mors don’t come around every day. It’s witnessing something so rare, and sports fans alike can't help but appreciate it for what it is.

This year, the Bucks boys’ varsity team is 12-6, good enough for the No. 6 spot in Class AA. With only two games remaining in the regular season, Yankton is looking to lock down a home game play-in game for the newly implemented Round of 16.
