Northern State University will play for a National Championship in men’s basketball on Saturday. The Wolves defeated Queens North Carolina at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls on Thursday night, 105-99 in double overtime.

NSU head coach Paul Sather said he’s lucky to be able to coach such a great group of players.

"I think the only job we had as a staff we had to do tonight was slow them down and get them back to being who they were," explained Sather. "And once they found that, once they became that – I think we said we had 10 stops in a row to finish the first half. We had ten stops in a row against that team. I don’t think that’s happened to them all year."

Coach Sather said it was enjoyable to watch his players step up in the clutch.

"We started playing and it was awfully fun to watch," said Sather. "And that’s about all we did on the sideline was watch, so – awesome night."

More than 3,000 fans were in attendance to watch the division two semi-final round on Thursday night – most of them wearing Northern State’s colors of maroon and gold.

No. 3 Northern State will play No. 1 Ferris State, from Michigan, on Saturday afternoon for the division two men’s basketball national championship.

The title game is scheduled for tip-off at 2 pm CT tomorrow. It'll be televised live on CBS.
