The Sioux Falls marathon returns this weekend.

The race takes place Sunday morning. It starts and ends at Howard Wood Field.

Events include a full marathon starting at 6:30 a.m., half-marathon starting at 7 a.m., and a 5K begining at 10:15 a.m.

Organizers expect more than 2,000 runners, including participants from 45 states and several countries.

"The Sioux Falls Marathon is a celebration of community, health, and perseverance," said Sioux Falls Sports Authority Project Director Jerry Palleschi. "We’re always excited to display the charm of Sioux Falls to both local and visiting runners."

The route for the main race runs through downtown and follows the bike path around much of the city. Drivers may face temporary street closures in some areas that morning.
