South Dakota’s Olympians have been eliminated as the games continue through the end of this week.

First, Sioux Falls native Taryn Kloth – a beach volleyball player – lost her knockout round game against Canada after a dominant showing in the group stage.

On social media following her loss, Kloth and her partner Kristen Nuss, vowed their Olympic dreams were not yet dashed saying “it’s not over.”

In track and field, University of South Dakota alumnus Chris Nilsen came to Paris with high expectations after taking silver in the pole vault at the Tokyo 2020 games.

The USD all-time record holder was ultimately knocked out in the preliminary rounds, taking 11th on a 5.4-meter vault.
