2025 SDHSAA State Volleyball Tournaments, Friday Recap

The 2025 SDHSAA state volleyball tournaments continued on Friday, November 21st, from Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City with semifinals and consolation semifinals.

Class B

Consolation Semifinals

Parkston defeated Herreid/Selby Area 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-21)

The Trojans were led by Keeara Oakley, who notched 17 in the kills category. Oakley also had four ace serves. Finley Begenreif had 27 assists in the offensive effort as well. Defensively, Parkston was led by Addison Koehn with 22 digs. Herreid/Selby Area was led by Jordyn Rossow, who tallied 15 kills. Katie Allbee led the team in set assists with 20, while Alyssa Kaup had 17 digs.

Gayville-Volin defeated Harding County 3-1 (25-11, 16-25, 25-14, 25-14)

Maia Achen and Paisley Dimmer both had 12 kills in the win for the Raiders. Kendra Beeck recorded 34 assists as well. Defensively, Jolie Westrum led the way with 16 digs and a block. Harding County’s top attacker was Macey Wendt with ten kills. Mya Glines had 14 assists, while Kamry Padden had 11 assists. Lexy Rolph had a couple serve aces and also led the Ranchers with 11 digs.

Semifinals

Chester defeated Bennett County 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-16)

The Flyers were led by Lily Van Hal who had 15 kills on the attack. Van Hal (16) and Jacy Wolf (14) combined for 30 set assists too. Wolf also led the defensive efforts with 11 digs. For Bennett County, Peyson O’Neill had 12 kills, while her sister Reagan O’Neill had ten kills. Macy Claussen led the way as well with 17 set assists, while Olivia McMillan was the top digs leader with 11.

Warner defeated Northwestern 3-2 (25-16, 18-25, 25-17, 25-27, 15-13)

Warner was led on the attack by Jaycee Jung who had 25 kills in the match. Tatum Hanson and Reagan Wood combined for 54 set assists too. The top performer in the digs category was Keira Steger with 26. On the Northwestern side, Ashley Haven had 12 kills. Elexis Kramp recorded 35 set assists and Lila Johnson had 32 digs as well.

Class A

Consolation Semifinals

Clark/Willow Lake defeated Wagner 3-0 (25-23, 28-26, 25-16)

Shelby Begeman (14) and Kelsey Hofer (11) combined for 25 kills in the win for the Cyclones. Zoe Nichols had 28 set assists to lead the team in that category. On defense, Kadee Frankfurth had 22 digs. Wagner’s top attacker was Ravyn Medricky. She had 11 kills. Braxton Nedved led the Red Raiders in set assists with 27. Libby Kotab and Hannah Holzbauer combined for 36 digs on defense.

St. Thomas More defeated Rapid City Christian 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-21)

Leighton Scherr led the Cavaliers with 13 kills, while Emma Henry notched 35 assits. Kaitlin Strain had an impressive 30 digs on defense, while Violet Grimshaw and Leighton Scherr each had five blogs as well in the defensive effort. Chloe Weber led Rapid City Christian on the attack with 16 kills. She also had 17 assists. Faith King led the Comets in the assists category with 22. King also had three serve aces. Chloe Weber led the team in digs with 22.

Semifinals

Dakota Valley defeated Hamlin 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-9)

The Panthers were led on offense by Claire Munch who had 18 kills and by Madie Munch, who tallied 32 set assists. Samantha Kimbell also had seven serve aces in the winning effort. Aubree Worden led Dakota Valley on defense with 12 digs. For Hamlin, Addison Neuendorf led the attack with 11 kills. Issie Steffensen had 19 set assists and Jayci Trowbridge recorded 14 digs.

Dell Rapids defeated Sioux Falls Christian 3-1 (25-14, 24-26, 25-22, 25-19)

Madelyn Henry led the attack for the Quarriers with 29 kills. Tenley Anderson tallied 41 assists as well. Henry also led on defense with 15 digs. For Sioux Falls Christian, Tavyn Sichmeller had 17 kills, while Meredith Nelson had 39 set assists. Jasmine Vander Haar had 19 digs and Jayla Overman recorded six blocks as well for the Chargers.

Class AA

Consolation Semifinals

Sioux Falls Lincoln defeated Mitchell 3-2 (26-24, 25-23, 18-25, 20-25, 15-9)

Ella Smith led the attack for the Patriots with 14 kills. Hannah Baron and Mallory Schneider also each had 11 kills. Schneider also had 35 set assists on offense. She was also the leader in the digs category with 23. Addie Siemsen led the Kernels with 11 kills and 26 assists. Nia Talley had 24 digs in the loss for Mitchell.

Sioux Falls Washington defeated Sioux Falls Jefferson 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-18)

Chloe Peterson led the Warriors with 11 kills and four serve aces. Emily Akkerman contributed with 30 assists and four serve aces of her own. Defensively for Washington it was Ivy Freesemann, who led the team in digs with 13. Sienna Sabers had ten kills for the Cavaliers, while Olivia Wachal totaled 21 set assists. Sabers also led Jefferson in digs with 12.

Semifinals

Harrisburg defeated Watertown 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-11)

Gabi Zachariasen led the attack for Harrisburg with 13 kills. She also had four serve aces. Josalyn Samuels recorded 32 set assists as well. Defensively for the Tigers, they were led by Lindsay Langner, who had ten digs. The Arrows top kill leader was Reese Munger with four. Kynsee Russell had 15 assists for Watertown. Russell also led the team in digs with eight.

O'Gorman defeated Brandon Valley 3-2 (19-25, 25-21, 25-14, 22-25, 15-13)

Lauren Venenga led O'Gorman with 19 kills. Londyn Smith had 45 set assists and Katie McKay recorded 17 digs in the winning effort as well. Brandon Valley's Abby Gruber led the attack for the Lynx with 16 kills. Logan McGuire tallied 43 set assists and Mya VanWesten dug out 16 balls on defense too.
