2025 SDHSAA State Volleyball Tournaments, Final Recap

The 2025 SDHSAA state volleyball tournaments concluded on Saturday, November 22, from Rapid City with Harrisburg, Dakota Valley and Chester winning state championships. Here's a rundown of all the placement matches from the day.

Class B

7th/8th | Herreid/Selby Area defeated Harding County 3-2 (23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-12)

The Wolverines were led on the attack by Jordyn Rossow, who recorded 24 kills. Katie Allbee notched 40 set assists as well. Alyssa Kaup had a strong defensive performance with 40 digs too for Herreid/Selby Area. Harding County was led on offense by Kamry Padden. She led the team in kills with 17 and had 13 set assists too. Mya Glines had 30 set assists as well. Lexy Rolph led the Ranchers in digs with 32.

5th/6th | Gayville-Volin defeated Parkston 3-0 (25-8, 26-24, 25-21)

The Raiders were led by Maia Achen who tallied 15 kills on the attack. Nendra Beeck was the top performer in set assists for Gayville-Volin with 23, and Jolie Westrum led the team in digs with 20. Parkston’s top performer on offense was Keera Oakley, who had 11 kills. Berkley Ziebert recorded 23 digs on defense too. This was the best finish for Gayville-Vollin in their three years of making the state tournament.

3rd/4th | Northwestern defeated Bennett County 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-12)

Northwestern’s top attacker on offense was Ashley Haven, who finished with 17 kills. Ella Boekelheide also contributed with 28 set assists. Lila Johnson had the most digs in the match for the Wildcats with 16. For Bennett County, Reagan O’Neill led the way with 16 kills. She also had a serve ace. Macy Claussen had 23 set assists and Peyson O’Neill had 17 digs in the loss.

Championship: Chester defeated Warner 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-18)

Jacy Wolf led the attack for the Flyers with 14 kills. She also led the team in set assists with 16. Lily Van Hal also had 14 set assists. Gracie Huntimer led the defensive effort with 19 digs. For Warner, Jaycee Jung had 17 kills, while Tatum Hanson had 13 set assists. Reagan Wood led the Monarchs in digs with 14.

Class A

7th/8th | Rapid City Christian defeated Wagner 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-12)

The Comets were led on the attack by Chloe Weber, who had 13 assists. Faith King also contributed with 14 set assists and she also led the team in digs with nine. Wagner’s top offense performer was Brylie Link with five kills. Braxton Nedved tallied 13 assists and Libby Kotab had six digs.

5th/6th | Clark/Willow Lake defeated St. Thomas More 3-1 (27-25, 26-24, 12-25, 25-23)

Shelby Begeman led the Cyclones with 19 kills. Zoe Nichols added to the offense with 37 set assists. She also had three serve aces in the match. Defensively for Clark/Willow Lake it was Kadee Frankfurth who led the team in digs with 21. St. Thomas More’s top attacker was Leighton Scherr. She had 19 kills. Enna Henry led the Cavaliers in set assists with 44, while Kaitlin Strain led them defensively with 23 digs.

3rd/4th | Sioux Falls Christian defeated Hamlin 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-18)

Tavyn Sichmeller led Sioux Falls Christian with 12 kills. Meredith Nelson had 35 digs for the Chargers too, while Jasmine Vander Haar led the team in digs with 18. Nelson also had four serve aces in the win. Hamlin’s top attacker on offense was Addie Neuendorf who finished with ten kills. She also led the team in digs with 20. Issie Steffensen recorded 26 set assists.

Championship: Dakota Valley defeated Dell Rapids 3-1 (26-24, 26-24, 24-26, 25-22)

Dakota Valley’s Clair Munch was a force offensively as she recorded 26 kills. Her sister Madie Munch had 40 set assists. Clair Munch also had 13 digs, as did Samantha Kimbell. Dell Rapids was led by Madelynn Henry who had 22 kills. Tenley Anderson also helped offensively with 40 set assists. She also led the team defensively with 14 digs.

Class AA

7th/8th | Sioux Falls Jefferson defeated Mitchell 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-10)

Sienna Sabers led the Cavaliers with 13 kills. Olivia Wachal also tallied 23 set assists, while both Riley Fodness and Wachal tied in digs with ten. For Mitchell, Nia Talley led the attack with 11 kills. Addie Siemsen recorded 20 set assists and then Kenna Soulek and Talley tied with 11 digs each.

5th/6th | Sioux Falls Lincoln defeated Sioux Falls Washington 3-1 (20-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-20)

Mallory Schneider and Hannah Baron combined for 21 kills on the attack for Lincoln. Schneider also led the team with set assists at 29. Julia Blom had 16 digs defensively for the Patriots. Washington’s top attacker was Jade Jere, who finished the match with 19 kills. Emily Akkerman tallied 40 assists and led the team in digs with 15. Plus, she had four serve aces too.

3rd/4th | Brandon Valley defeated Watertown 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-21)

The Lynx were led offensively by Jersie Melcher who had ten kills. Logan McGuire notched 25 set assists as well, and Mya VanWesten recorded 17 digs on defense too. For Watertown, Anna Hirtz led the team in kills with nine. Kynsee Russell recorded 23 set assists and Andi Olson had 19 digs.

Championship: Harrisburg defeated O’Gorman 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-13)

Gabi Zachariasen led the attack for Harrisburg with 15 kills. Julia Masselink also had 12 kills in the offensive effort. Josalyn Samuels contributed with 33 assists, while Lindsay Langner had 14 digs defensively. O’Gorman’s Lauren Venenga had six kills in the loss. Londyn Smith had 19 assists and Lauren Venenga led in digs with seven.
