Seattle Storm Selects SDSU's Macy Miller In WNBA Draft

Argus Leader/Seattle Storm

Mitchell native and South Dakota State senior guard Macy Miller is moving on to play professionally for the Women’s National Basketball Association. On Wednesday evening, Miller was selected at No. 36 overall by the Seattle Storm – the final pick of the 2019 draft. Miller says she’s still trying to comprehend what just happened.

"I honestly was in shock when I saw my name. I hadn’t received a call or anything, but when I saw my name up there – oh it was a great feeling," said Miller. "I’m super excited to get down to Seattle in a couple of weeks just to get after it."

Miller concluded her collegiate career two weeks ago when SDSU fell to the University of Oregon in the Sweet 16 of the Women’s NCAA tournament. Her 2,355 career points are the most all-time by a women’s player in Summit League conference history. Miller’s news team, the Seattle Storm, won the WNBA Championship 2018.
