Track & Field - SDPB State Championship Coverage

Shane Veenhof, a junior from Madison, won the ‘A’ boys 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles on Saturday at the 2025 SDHSAA state track and field meet in Sioux Falls.

Bennett County won their first girls state track championship since 1986 on Saturday from Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls. Scoring a total of 85-points, 70 of those included the sister duo of Reagan and Payson O’Neill. Their brother Rush also won three events of his own.

The 2025 SDHSAA state track and field meet wrapped up on Saturday from Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls Lincoln, Sioux Falls Christian, and Bennett County won girls team titles, while Sioux Falls Lincoln, Sioux Falls Christian, and Colman-Egan won team championships in boys.

Because girls basketball and volleyball weren’t sanctioned in South Dakota during her high school years, Craig Mattick’s In Play guest missed those opportunities but later started the De Smet volleyball program, leading it to the state tournament in each of its first five seasons. She went on to become one of South Dakota’s most respected volleyball officials, working 34 state tournaments — Huron Tiger Kim Weed.
