Ellsworth relieves second commander from duty in as many months

Another Ellsworth Air Force Base commander has been relieved of his duties – the second firing in as many months.

Lt. Col. Stahr was relieved of his duties as the Commander of the 28th Force Support Squadron. Air Force officials said the firing is due to “loss of trust and confidence in Stahr’s ability to lead the squadron.”

Last month, Col. Mark Kimball was fired from his position as Commander of the 28th operations group.

The shakeup comes after an Air Force report found widespread leadership issues at Ellsworth Air Force base contributed to a B-1 bomber crash back in January. However, an Ellsworth spokesperson told SDPB Stahr's firing is not related to the crash investigation.
