Classically trained violinist and songwriter Gaelynn Lea, who won the NPR Tiny Desk Contest in 2016, will be playing in Yankton on Friday, May 17 at the AME Allen Chapel.
The Minnesota artist's original NPR entry video featured the her song "Someday We'll Linger in the Sun" and won over 6,000 other contestants in the 2016 NPR Tiny Desk Contest. Gaelynn was born with a congenital disability called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, or Brittle Bones Disease. In recent years, she has used her music as a platform to advocate for people with disabilities and to promote positive social change. Bob Boilen of NPR said of her live performances "Gaelynn Lea's shows and her words are truly moving, and I highly recommend experiencing if she comes your way."

The performance will be held at 7pm CT and is paid for by free-will offering which will all be given to the artist. The AME Allen Chapel is located at 508 Cedar Street Yankton, SD.
