Cajun music specialists BeauSoleil of Lafayette, Louisiana, performed at JazzFest on July 20, 2013 - a presentation of the Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society. BeauSoleil take the rich Cajun traditions of their home state and artfully blend elements of zydeco, New Orleans jazz, Tex-Mex, country, blues and rock and roll into a delectable musical recipe. Founded in 1975, BeauSoleil has released 25 albums. Their most recent cd, "From Bamako to Carencro," came out in 2013. The band has won two Grammy Awards and received several other Grammy nominations. Plus, they have been honored many times with Big Easy Entertainment Awards presented by the New Orleans music and entertainment publication Gambit Weekly. BeauSoleil's many appearances on A Prairie Home Companion have gone over so well that Garrison Keilor calls them "the best Cajun band in the world."
