The 2025 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally drew the largest crowd in a decade, according to new data released by the state.
Each year, the Department of Transportation counts vehicles entering Sturgis during the rally.
This year, that count reached 537,459. That’s 11 percent higher than the five-year average, and around 67,000 vehicles higher than 2024.

In fact it’s the highest traffic count since the 75th anniversary in 2015, which surpassed 747,000 vehicles, according to state data.
Each day of the 10-day rally recorded higher-than-average attendance, with the highest being Monday, Aug. 4. Nearly 69,0000 vehicles entered the city that day — 19-percent higher than the five-year average.
The DOT will have a full report including traffic counts from the greater Black Hills area later this month.
