Yellow More: A Rephotography Classic Revisited

Yellow More: A Rephotography Classic Revisited
Please join the South Dakota Mines, Department of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences as we host Dr. Robb Campbell as he discusses Yellow More: A Rephotography Classic Revisited. In 1974 Donald Progulske published Yellow Ore, Yellow Hair, Yellow Pine, letting readers compare the famous photos from the 1874 Custer invasion of the Black Hills with new versions from 100 years later. In 2024 Robb Campbell published Yellow More, letting readers see Progulske's book with digitally crisp aligned images, new maps, chapters of extras, and a biographical essay based on interviews with the authors. In this talk Dr. Campbell will tell the story soup-to-nuts, from Custer to Progulske to his own involvement, with lots of photos, some digital tricks, and small-state stories about how we are all related.
