The Benedictine Peace Center in Yankton is offering an online Scripture Study on Women in the New Testament beginning September 25. Participants may choose between a Wednesday morning group from 9:30-11:00 or a Wednesday evening group from 7:00-8:30. The study is available via Zoom with an option for simultaneous in-person group discussion at the Benedictine Peace Center for Yankton area participants. Facilitated by Sister Mary Jo Polak, the six-week program will include study, sharing insights, and praying together following the example of these women whose lives were touched by Jesus. Humorist, playwright and author, Kevin Kling is hailed as a Minnesota state treasure. His ground-breaking one-person play, “21A” launched his playwritingcareer and he has since performed his inspiring stories and plays in libraries, school gymnasiums, The Kennedy Center, Off-Broadway, Sundance, regional theaters and storytelling festivals around the US. His international tours have included Australia, Europe and Thailand and he has written 5 books.
Well-known for his commentaries on NPR’s “All Things Considered,” Kevin’s storytelling weaves his sense of humor with his unique perspective tackling life’s challenges as an individual born with a congenital birth disorder and his partial paralysis from a near-fatal motorcycle accident.

The world celebrates Dark Matter Day at the end of October each year. SURF takes part in this celebration alongside other laboratories, universities, and institutions around the world.
How to attend:Deep Talks is held at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center, 160 W. Main Street, in Lead, South Dakota. The event begins at 5 p.m. MT with a social hour that includes a Crow Peak Brewing Company beer tasting (must be 21 and older to drink) and light refreshments. The presentation will begin in the Visitor Center classroom at 6 p.m. MT.

The Black Hills Storytellers are flying in for another evening of tales to raise your hair, tingle your spine, and tickle your funny bone! If our witchery is successful, we’ll be joined once again with ghostly tunes and dirges from Custer’s French Creek Folk Band.
This spooky fun event is sponsored by the Sturgis Area Arts Council and the Sturgis Public Library. It’s free and is intended only for the non-squeamish adults. Be there - if you dare -at 7:00pm on Friday, October 25th. Please use the Library’s Sherman Street entrance.
